  Self-employment & Freelance Experiences

I have been freelancing since - what seems like forever off the records mostly just because I knew I could not only take an idea, but also create it to a finish product. I created just about anything - from birthday cakes to birthday banners, birthday cards to Christmas cards, Character paintings on walls to character drawing to put in a frame to hang on a wall. I officially started beng paid for freelancing in 1999 - well actually it was a barder for certification in Reiki Level One.

I am not sorry to say this but I perform MOST of my freelance and self-employment contracts while working in house elsewhere - not that I do my freelance work while I am working for someone else... NO! I would NEVER do that! But I do my self-employment / Freelance at home in the evening and during weekends. The extra income I put away for rainy days or for when I am not working in-house. Currently I am looking for in-house position. I will accept full-time or part-time and I will also accept contract positions.

The following bulleted list is a summary of all the tasks that have been involved in all past assignments of freelance and/or self-employment:

  • Created and provided creative solutions for print and web solutions based on client’s competitor research and strategy of the clients’ goals. Solutions included: development of brochures, direct mail, advertising, newsletters, posters, and web site creation or update in design while ensuring consistent brand image and voice while working on a variety of projects
  • Graphic design and manipulation for business cards, flyers, menus, invitations, announcements, posters, catalogues, company logos (PageMaker, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, Photo Editor, Acrobat)
  • Registered web site URLs, researched for best hosting solutions, obtained web hosting and setup accounts, produced graphic digital images and custom code for web sites (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Flash, Acrobat), web design (HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, FrontPage, Flash, CGI, Acrobat)
  • Generate entire computer files for assigned projects
  • Manage projects and perform efficiently toward all deadlines by tracking the status of each obtained project
  • Ensure projects are error-free before sending to print and meet organizational specifications
  • Provide in-house training of various software applications (Dreamweaver) as well as tech support and training by telephone/online messaging/email/in house when necessary (Photoshop, Outlook/Outlook express, Netscape Mail, Thunderbird Mail, online e-mail)
